Android 13 is finally here for unlocked Galaxy A52 5G in the US

Android 13 is available for the unlocked variants of Samsung‘s Galaxy A52 5G in the US. The big Android update for these phones comes nearly two months after the carrier-locked units picked it up. The new Android version has already reached the mid-range device in most other markets.

The Galaxy A52 5G was one of the few mid-range Galaxy smartphones to get Samsung’s Android 13 beta last year. The company began the beta update in October, with the stable release arriving in late November. Following the rollout in some international markets, the new Android version arrived in the US in early December. The update initially covered carrier-locked units. We expected Samsung to seed the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update to the unlocked Galaxy A52 5G stateside in a few weeks. However, it didn’t happen.

Nearly two months later, those users were still waiting to get the taste of Android 13. Their wait has finally ended. The new Android version is widely rolling out to the phone with the firmware build number A526U1UEU7DWA2 (via). Unlocked Galaxy A52 5G units on AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Bluegrass Cellular, Cellular South, Comcast, Cricket Wireless, C-Spire, Metro By T-Mobile, Xfinity Mobile, and other networks are getting the update.

Galaxy A52 5G gets Android 13 with the December security patch

This update brings the December 2022 Android security patch to the Galaxy A52 5G. It’s not the latest security update from Samsung. The company has already updated dozens of models to the January 2023 SMR (Security Maintenance Release) and is expected to release the February patch later this week, or early next week by the latest. But the update is primarily about Android 13. The phone will get a newer security patch in the coming months.

Android 13-based One UI 5.0 contains a host of goodies for this 2021 premium mid-range smartphone from Samsung. The Korean firm has refreshed the UI with some minor tweaks. Improved system animations and app icons give a new feel to your phone. You are also getting tons of new features and improvements across various apps and services, including Camera, Gallery, Samsung Internet, Samsung Keyboard, Bixby Routines, AR Emoji, Photo Editor, and more. The update brings privacy and security improvements as well.

If you’re using a Samsung Galaxy A52 5G in the US and haven’t received Android 13 yet, you should now. Go to Settings > Software update and tap on Download and install to check for updates manually. If you don’t see any updates there, wait a few days and check again.
